      It's important to add the correct amount of sand, in pounds, to your pool filter tank. Too much or too little filter sand, and your filtration will suffer. Check your filter label for the required sand amount, or your filter model's owner's manual, or find your filter on our website product pages. Below is an approximation, based on filter tank diameter. 

      • • 16" Tank Diameter uses 100 lbs Filter Sand
      • • 18" Tank Diameter uses 150 lbs Filter Sand
      • • 19" Tank Diameter uses 175 lbs Filter Sand
      • • 20" Tank Diameter uses 200 lbs Filter Sand
      • • 21" Tank Diameter uses 225 lbs Filter Sand
      • • 22" Tank Diameter uses 250 lbs Filter Sand
      • • 24" Tank Diameter uses 300 lbs Filter Sand

      1.  1. Remove the drain plug and open the air bleeder to drain the tank.
      2.  2. Remove the top dome, or the top mounted multiport valve.
      3.  3. Cover the standpipe or baffle to keep sand from entering.
      4.  4. Remove the old sand by scoop, or use a wet/dry vac.
      5.  5. Use care when working around the laterals at tank bottom.
      6.  6. Replace drain plug and fill tank with enough water to cover the laterals.
      7.  7. Lift each bag onto the tank, and slice the bottom with a razor knife to empty.
      8.  8. Start the filter up with a Rinse/Backwash/Rinse procedure, then switch to Filter.
