    Closing Kits

    1. 6 years ago
      Straight Forward
Works as advertised and I have been using these for years. I find the sponge particularly worthless, but whatever, it comes with the kit.

      Complete kit
This kit has everything needed to get the pool ready to winterize. Just add it to the pool and you are done.

      Quality, Value, and Anticipated Effectiveness
After constantly spending $275+ on openings and closings, we recently began tackling the tasks ourselves. The Ultimate Winterizing Pool Chemical Kit represented our first purchase of a closing kit; it arrived in one day as promised. While the effectiveness of the kit will be depicted by the state of the water upon our next spring opening, we found the kit to be fairly priced and composed of all the essential chemicals, etc. Before making the purchase, we consulted a friend who has been using ... read more this kit for 10+ years. He indicated that the kit has never let him down. Thus, we are confident that the kit will do the job over its seven months of work and we will purchase it again.

      Eliminated Algae quickly
We recently had a new liner installed and the water was saved by pumping into large bladders. Unfortunately, there was algae in the bladders which made its way into the pool during refilling. Before using, we couldn't see a foot down into the pool. 3 days after the initial dose, water was crystal clear and were adding the maintenance dose weekly with no signs of reoccurrence.

      The best, non-copper Algecide.
This is the only Algaecide I buy or would recommend to a friend. First, it has NO copper. Copper is the traditional old-school algaecide and what is in the cheap pool store blue stuff. Now Copper does work very well as algae hates copper, BUT copper will build up over time and eventually react with your chlorine giving you the dreaded GREEN HAIR. Yes, green hair is caused by excess copper, not chlorine as the urban legend goes. This algaecide is copper free and non-foaming. It works ... read more exceptionally well and won't make you look like you work in the Emerald City.

      Problem solved!
I have had a gray dust powder issue for years, some pool company said it looked like diatomaceous earth but nothing got rid of it. This took care of it and also made the water so clear and I don't think my pool has ever looked so beautiful - EVER! I am just purchasing more as a 1-2 weekly maintenance. BUY IT!!

      Great winterizing kit
I've been buying the Ultimate Winterizing kit from In The Swim for several years now and I'll keep buying it every time I close my pool for winter because IT WORKS. I know that my pool water is going to be as clear and sparkley clean when I open it in the spring as it was when I closed it, because of In The Swims quality products.

      This grouping really works!
I've been purchasing the In The Swim pool closing chemicals for 10-11 yrs and the addition of the Pool Magic products as well as the addition of the Winter Pill worked the best for my inground vinyl pool last Spring. I followed the instructions and added the chemicals before the professional pool reps came to close it. Upon opening the water was almost clear. After using the In The Swim pool opening chemicals along with the usual vacuuming, the water was fit for swimming in no time at all. ... read more As long as their chemicals keep working, I will keep purchasing them.

      No Regrets
Perfect! Second year using this bundle for my 40000 gal inground pool. Makes it very easy to open up in the Spring. If you haven’t hired someone to open/close your pool, this is the way to go!

      THE GREATEST!!
I have had this above-ground pool since 1987 and this is the BEST product ever. I used it the winter of 2007-2008 and the pool was clean when I opened it. I thought it may have been because we had 100+" of snow. I used it again last winter and the pool was also clear this spring. I have not been using any other chemicals when I close the pool for several year because I never found that they work. THIS DOES WORK!!!

      Best Open in 12 years!
After a warm Winter and warmer Spring, expected to find a very murky pool. We judge opens by how many days after opening day it takes to make out the shape of the white drain cover at 8 foot end. Then how long to see the StSteel screws in the drain cover. WOW saw the screws as soon as the cover came off! Best Open ever -looked the same as when I closed it up.... 6 months ago. Found a dead shrew at bottom of stairs, something like this in a normally murky pool- would have taken "days" to digest ... read more with chemicals- let alone see it and scoop out. So I know I saved time and money and will buy a winter ball for the coming closing in the fall from now on!

A "must have" for closing pool
When we purchased the ball last fall, I was little doubtful as to how well it would actually work. It was smaller than I was expecting and didn't look like much. HOWEVER..........when we opened the pool this spring the water was clear and I was amazed!! I'm getting ready to order our Winter Ball for this year's closing and I just hope In The Swim has this product as long as we have a pool!!!

Easy to use and clear water in the spring!
We have used this winterizing kit for several years now. It is so easy to winterize the pool with this kit, and the price is definitely cheaper than the kits from Leslie's. Every spring when we open the pool, the water is crystal clear and ready to go for the summer. This kit is a winterizing must!

      Great Product
I have used this winter kit several times and it has kept our pool crystal clean throughout the winter. When we take off the winter cover in the spring, all we have to do is fill the pool up and put the opening kit in and we are good to go. This makes maintaining the pool through the winter a breeze - great product.

      Fast delivery!
we have used in the swim for quite a few years. The winter pool closing kits take all the guesswork out of closing our pool. We also order the "socks" to put in the skimmer basket to keep all the bugs & leaves out of my filter.

great product to keep the pool lines open and easy to clean up in the spring

      It Works
I live in the south and have an above ground pool that I do not close for winter. I only have a few trees around and after the leaves have all fallen I clean the pool. We have had a few weeks of 28 degree temps and I always poyr in a bottle of pool anti-freeze to keep the filter and pump from freezing. This stuff works great! When I open the pool (Salt water) I do a shock, and then replace some of the salt that has washed out. Jump in and enjoy.

      Great anti freeze
This product I have been using now for 4-5 years. Just fill up your underground pipes with this, seal them off and you wont have to worry about freezing, cracking pip[e, etc... at all during the winter.

      Winterizing Wonders
Third year now that I have used the In The Swim winterizing package for my in-ground pool. Works like a charm and saves the cost of hiring someone to do it for me. This spring, the water needed less attention than prior seasons due to addition of floating clorinator included in the package. Thanks for making opening easier but my former pool guy misses the business. Maybe he'll pay you not to sell your products ??

      Winter Algaecide
I have been using the In the swim winter algaecide for about 12 years.... Works great... I put one quart in at closing and I add a quart about ten day before I open the pool in the spring.....

      love my pool
Love how this plug works fits tight in the skimmer hole!

      They Work Great!
I had bought some of these plugs when we first set up our 18' above ground pool and they worked great. Now, 8 years later they finally got weather cracked and needed replacement. You can't beat the price considering they kept water from leaking out during the winter for many years. The only change is that the wing nut is now plastic verse metal from 8 years ago. The new plastic wing nut worked great and should last as long as you keep it out of the sun during the summer.

      Pool Closing Plugs
The plugs are fine, but more expensive than at my local pool store.

In The Swim Knowledge Pool: Closing Kits

    In The Swim's Dr. Pool

Close Your Pool With The Right Winter Pool Chemicals

During the long off season in the snowbelt – for those that winterize their swimming pool – the water is not being circulated, filtered or sanitized - making your pool the perfect breeding ground for algae. Our winter pool closing kits have been specifically designed and formulated to provide you with the exact combination of powerful winterizing chemicals to help ensure a swift opening next spring, without additional chemicals needed to restore water clarity. All of our In The Swim Pool Winter Kits Include:

    Chlorine-Free Shock

Our Chlorine-Free Shock is a powerful oxidizing agent, but is non-chlorine, and will never harm your pool surfaces or your pool cover. Chlorine-Free winter shock also dissolves faster than chlorine, and maintains greater efficacy at a wider range of pH level. All of our Winter Pool Kits contain our premium non-chlorine shock oxidizer to burn off any remaining impurities, while not reducing the effectiveness of other chemicals.

    Time-Release Winter Floater

Our exclusive time-release Winter Floater discharges a non-chlorine oxidizing agent into your pool water for months after it's been covered. Not only does this winter chemical floater sanitize your pool water, but also works to remove carbon dioxide from the water - eliminating one of algae's primary food sources. Unlike chlorine tablet pool floaters, our non-chlorine Winter Floater will never stain your plaster or vinyl.

    Winter Stain Away

Specifically formulated for closing your pool, Winter Stain Away helps eliminate stain-causing metals and minerals that can leave your pool with costly liner stains or hard-to-clean waterline build-up. Winter Stain Away sequesters metals – keeping them tied up in solution, to prevent them from precipitating out during winter. Works wonders on mesh safety covered pools, and keeps working all year round to help prevent metal and mineral stains.

    Winterizer

The final step to preventing algae next spring is to pour in our special winter pool algaecide. Dr. Pool's own proprietary polymer blend combines in perfect harmony with the other items in your pool winterizing kit. When used in conjunction with our other pool closing chemicals our Winterizer Algaecide is the perfect "knock-out" punch against algae. Lasts all winter long, even into a warm spring.

    Winter Sorb

Made exclusively for our Winterizing Kits, the Winter Sorb™ can absorb up to 40 times its weight in residual suntan lotions and body oils to prevent grease, grime and waterline scum. Oils are not good for keeping a clear pool that is winterized. They provide a low grade food source for algae, and can clog up the waterways, easily combining with free chlorine to create chloramines, which get in the way of free chlorine trying to do its job.

Buy the Winter Kit that best fits your pool size. Don't order a kit that's too small, it's better to have some extra chemical in the pool to help guard against cover tears, heavy debris or warm springtime temperatures. And if you close early, or open late in the season, to buy the next larger size winter kit.

To help select the best Winter Closing Kit, use these formulas to closely calculate the number of gallons in your pool.
     - Round Pools: Diameter x Diameter x Average Depth x 5.9 = Total Gallons
     - Oval Pools: Long Diameter x Short Diameter x Average Depth x 5.9 = Total Gallons
     - Rectangular Pools: Length x Width x Average Depth x 7.5 = Total Gallons
