    • Absorbs the expansion of freezing water inside your skimmer, preventing it from cracking the skimmer housing.
    • Simply place Skimmer Guard into your skimmer after lowering the water level in your pool.
    • To finish winterizing your pool, insert a #9 rubber pool plug into the return line.

      Additional Information:

To use the pool Skimmer Guard, drain your skimmer of water after inserting your Aquador skimmer cover or lowering the water level. Use Teflon tape to wrap the threads of the Skimmer Guard, and then thread it into the bottom of the skimmer tightly.

Our winter Skimmer Guard, much like the pool gizmo, has different thread sizes to accommodate all threaded aboveground pool skimmers. Made of high density plastic, with enough sidewall flexibility to absorb the ice that forms in your pool skimmer from a rising pool water level, or from fall rainfall and winter snow melt.

For the aboveground pool with one pool skimmer and one pool return, after plugging your empty skimmer tightly with the Skimmer Guard, plug your drained return line with a #9 pool plug at the pool wall. This ensures that no water can enter your pool plumbing and crack your pipes, hose or pump and filter.

Congratulations, your aboveground pool plumbing winterization is now complete. Balance your pool water, add a winter chemical kit and cover your pool to keep it clean and block sunlight all winter long.
