    Hayward Super Pump Replacement Motors

Keep Your Pool Running With A Hayward Super Pump Replacement Motor

The Hayward Super Pump replacement motor is the ideal way to save money and keep your pool pump running. The Hayward replacement motor bolts right on to the existing Super Pump wet end housing, saving you a lot of time and expense from having to buy a completely new pump.

To replace your Hayward Superpump motor, shut off all power, and remove the four hex-head bolts that connect the seal plate to the pump housing. Slide the motor out of the pump housing. Remove the rear motor cover and remove the two power wires and the ground wire from your existing motor, and the flexible conduit connector.

At the rear of the motor, loosen the thermal regulator (12 o'clock) or the capacitor (9 o'clock), to allow access to the rear of the shaft. Insert a 7/16" open end wrench on the slotted end of the motor shaft to hold it stationary, while on the other end of the Superpump motor, twist the impeller off in a CC direction. Use large channel pliers if necessary, covering the impeller with a soft cloth to prevent damage.

When the impeller is removed, remove the seal plate and the four bolts holding the motor mounting plate to the old motor. Reattach the motor mounting plate to the new motor, and press fit the round half of a NEW shaft seal into the seal plate, taking care to keep it clean and free of oils. Place the other spring half of the new shaft seal onto the back of the impeller, taking care to install in the proper direction (soft rubber side toward impeller, hard plastic side toward motor).

Check that the motor is set to accept the proper voltage (115V or 230V), and rewire the new motor in the same manner as the old motor. Spin impeller back onto the shaft, and install diffuser (and diffuser gasket) over the impeller. Slide the motor assembly into pump and tighten the four bolts, with the housing gasket properly positioned. Tighten the four bolts to secure the motor into the pump housing. Fill with water, seal pump lid and turn on power to motor.
