Hayward S200 Sand Filter - High Performance Sand Filter from Hayward

The S200 sand filter works with both above ground and in-ground swimming pools, up to 25,000 gallons. Design flow rate is 44 GPM, making large, inefficient pumps unnecessary; the S200 pairs well with Hayward Superpump or Superpump VS pumps.

Why is there sand in the bottom of my pool?
The sand that you are using could be too small. Make sure you are using #20 silica sand. Make sure none of the laterals are broken inside the filter. Make sure you cover the center pipe in the filter when you change out the sand.
When should I change my sand?
      On average every 2-4 years.
When do I backwash my filter?
When the filter pressure rises 8-10 PSI over the clean starting pressure it is time to backwash.
How many microns does this filter, filter down to?
      About 20 microns
How many gallons will this filter support?
This filter will support about 21,000 gallons.
How much sand do I put in this filter?
You should put about 200 lbs. of sand in the filter.

      Trouble Shooting:

      • Check skimmer and pump strainer baskets for debris.

      • Backwash filter.

      • Check for algae in pool and super chlorinate as required.
      • Be sure chlorine and pH levels are in proper range (adjust as required).
      • Check surface of filter sand for crusting or caking (remove 1” of sand if necessary).

      • Check chlorine, pH and total alkalinity levels and adjust as required.
      • Be sure flow rate through filter is sufficient.
      • Operate filter for longer periods.
      • Be sure multiport valve is set on "Filter" position.
