Not every customer wants or needs an in ground pool cover to last 15 or 20 years. The only difference between a cheap pool cover and an expensive pool cover is how well it meets our customer's needs. Some pool owners may be planning to move soon, or may be saving up for a mesh safety cover – and would rather buy a cheap pool cover to last for the next several years.

Perhaps you need to cover the pool only for a short time, during some renovation work, or for areas without heavy leaves and branches, a cheap pool cover can fit the bill perfectly.

These discount pool covers are made from the same heavy-duty polyethylene as our more expensive inground pool covers. They have a larger scrim and are dipped fewer times, creating a lighter weight, yet surprisingly durable material.

Are these Cheap Pool Covers? Cheaply priced maybe, but not cheaply made! In fact, cheap pool covers are very popular! Our cheapest 20x40 ft inground pool cover is our biggest selling inground economy cover (item W4560). You won't find a cheaper 20x40 in ground pool cover, with the same construction design as our top of the line pool covers, at a much cheaper cost. Cheap pool covers definitely fill a need for a large number of our customers, who must love them, because the written reviews are excellent and the negative feedback is almost non-existent.

How to buy a cheap in ground pool cover. In The Swim offers a winter pool cover for every wallet. Our in ground pool covers all have similar features and benefits, and a wide range of price options. The longer lasting pool covers will have a tighter weave, or scrim, and are "dipped" or laminated more times for more layers of polyethylene. The tighter the scrim and the more laminate layers a cover has, the greater the resistance to damage from tree branches or animals. Select the pool cover that meets your durability requirements, while also making your wallet happy.

How to order an in-ground pool cover. Our economy inground pool covers have a 5 ft overlap, so if you have a 20x40 ft. pool, the total size of your pool cover will be 25x45 feet – Our 18x36 ft pool cover will measure 23x41.

We commonly list our solid pool covers with two measurements, pool size and cover size. It's easy to get confused, please order by your pool size (i.e. 20'x40'), not by the size of the pool cover.

If you aren't certain of your pool size, please measure inside wall to inside wall, in both directions. For freeform pools, measure the longest length and widest width – at right angles to each other. Then order the pool size that will fit over the entire shape, cover size being 5' longer and 5' wider.

How to put on your in-ground pool cover. When you receive your pool cover, confirm the measurements listed on the box actually match your pool size. After cleaning the pool thoroughly and adding your winter chemical kit, spread the cover over your pool; blue side up, black side down. Center the cover over the pool and pull out the packing wrinkles. Lay water tubes or aqua blocks around the edge of the cover, and pull the hose around the fill them half to two-thirds full. You can fold in corners and curves, tucking the extra material under the pool cover. After the bags are in place, tighten up the cover once more to remove wrinkles and folds, and set a cover pump to remove rain water.

How to care for an in ground pool cover. Use a small pool cover pump or a gravity drain device to remove rain water and snow melt from the surface of your in ground pool cover. If too much water gets on the cover, it can strain the material, and become very mucky.

Standing water on your pool cover also attracts worms, and worms attract birds. Birds can be careless with their sharp claws and beaks, and can damage your pool cover by creating small holes. Squirrels chasing nuts or berries on the pool cover can also create pinholes with their claws as they walk across an above ground pool cover. All good reason to keep your cover clean.

While you are pumping water, use a leaf rake skim net or a pool brush to remove the leaves and debris on the pool cover. If you have a lot of fall debris, look at our leaf nets, which make heavy duty leaf handling easy.

How to store your inground pool cover. During pool opening, carefully remove the water bags from the pool cover and take it to an area large enough to spread it out. Clean the cover with a garden hose. Use your pool brush, or a push broom – to help remove dirt. If needed, you can use a mild detergent to help remove dried-on dirt from your pool cover.

Allow the cover to dry first before folding to prevent mildew. Use a fan-fold pattern, accordion-style method of folding, to make it easier to cover your in ground pool next fall.

Store the cover in a clean, dry area – away from nesting critters like field mice.
