    Solar Heaters

easier with parts from the harware store
Why spend $50, when for the price of a few PVC fitting one could make a device that works just as good and doesn't come apart

It works very well. What a great idea!
It's so easy to hookup and use. It has had no effect on my pump and filter. On a bright sunny day my pool water was 76 degrees and the water returning to the pool using the beluga and 100 feet of black hose, was 83 degrees! It really works very well. Well worth the money!

      Beluga Works Great So Far
I've had the Beluga installed for several weeks with 100' of black rubber hose. It has raised the pool temp at least 10 degrees up to 86. So far I'm satisfied with the performance. The durability is still a question.

3 Years is about Max on this Cover
As far as it's usefulness in warming the pool it did a great job along with our solar heater. Keeps the pool warm from the cool nights. I have owned this cover for 3 seasons and noticed for about the last month or so of using it, when I would take it off to swim there were little blue circles floating around in my pool. Which tells me the cover is degrading and will not be very useful as little plastic circles are not what you want to swim with. I feel they should change the warranty on this to ... read more 3yrs because for a 7 yr warranty it doesn't cover it after the first 2.

      Great product/Great Service!
Just received 3 of these and they were very easy to install. My pool had previously been set up with a tube heater from intheswim so installation was super easy. Less than an hour and they were up and running. We have had very rainy, cloudy days since then but they do seem to be heating as advertised.

      Really heats up pool!
I love how this heats up our pool. We've had a cool summer, but this cover makes the pool have an inviting temperature.

      Well worth it
We purchased this approx 3 weeks ago as the water isn't swimmer friendly until mid-June. Very satisfied, heated the 14,000 gallon pool n two days. Purchased some brackets from the local hardware store n mounted them on the side of the pool. Spaced 4 of them approx 6 ft apart n works fine when tKing it off. I'd say this was well worth it for the kids. They love it

Keep our pool warm & clean
I buy a new solar cover every summer as we keep it on all the time except when we are using the pool. We live in a farming area & this keeps our pool much cleaner & because it is a solar cover, it is always warm & ready to use when we are ready! Because we leave it on all the time, it disintegrates by the end of the summer, but I have tried the more expensive ones & they do the same. I like the thickness of this one better than the lower priced one.

      Pool Cover
We think this will be a great cover for the 2019 swimming season .

      Works great!
I had not planned on buying a solar cover until fall but an unexpected cold spell prompted me to buy one now. It arrived in only two days and when the night temps dipped into the 50's the pool stayed in the mid 80's. As the temps climbed back into the 80's and 90's, the pool quickly warmed up into the low 90's. I have it stored for now, but knowing fall is around the corner we will be swimming well into October. Highly recommend however, it is heavy so get a good reel the one I have works ... read more great but you need two people due to the weight.

      Good price great solar blanket
I have big lazy l 18ft by 42 ft total shaped pool so bought the 18 by 36 ft version and cut it into 6ft sections also got a 12 by 20 one and cut 2 ft off it for use covering stairs then cut the remaining 12 by 18 into two more 6 ft sections fits like a glove almost perfectly and us easy to remove each section for storage. Keeps all the heat locked in and in sunny days will even heat the pool above the 90 degrees.

      Not too hot....
So far, I've only noticed minimal heating. However, the water evaporation is greater than when using me solar blanket. But then, maybe my expectations were too great.

Great Product Does all it Claims to do!!!
Bought for my daughters pool. She uses it regularly during the summer pool season and simply loves it. It is truly a Great Product for conserving pool chemicals and water temperature.

      Good product
I've been using CoverFree for a couple of years now. While a don't have data from a side by side comparison, the scientific rationale seems sound and the pool does seem warm. My reason for not giving this five stars has to do with shipping and handling. The box arrived wet, as one of the two bottles leaked. Upon opening it I noticed the cap was loose causing roughly 2/3 of the liquid to leak out into the carton. A quick call rectified the matter and a new one was set out with dispatch. One ... read more suggestion...perhaps you can instruct your pickers/packers to give the cap a quck twist to tighten it beore sealing the shipping carton.

Very pleased with new solar cover!
Bought this a couple of weeks ago. It warmed the pool up ten degrees in a couple of day’s and already has our pool water the perfect temperature. It has cut the amount of pool chemicals used by half. This is our 2nd cover - the one before lasted about 7 yrs, then we didn’t have one for a few years. I had forgotten how many benefits there are for using this type of cover. We are very pleased - these covers are worth their money!

      AWESOME Product
I purchased this solar blanket to replace my last one. I have a large pool and need to use the solar blanket for about 5 months ever year. It is an ideal product to reduce the amount of temperature and evaporation loss of your pool every evening. As an example I normally lose only 3 to 4 degrees of water temp when the air temp drops to low 50s overnight. With no cover I would lose twice as many degrees without the solar cover.

      Does not lie flat.
Solar blanket does not lie flat. Very wrinkly even after on pool after a few weeks. 12 ml is as expected. However disappointed in the looks of this. Did not have this problem with my other ones.

In The Swim Knowledge Pool: Solar Pool Heaters

    In The Swim's Dr. Pool

Harness the Power of the Sun

In The Swim has solar pool heaters for inground pools and solar pool heaters for above ground pools. Capture the sun´s energy and put it to work heating your swimming pool! Solar pool heaters work well in all parts of the U.S., placed in any backyard area with daily unobstructed sun. Modular above ground pool solar heaters connect quickly to the pool return hose, and inground solar heaters are mounted to a nearby roof, rack or fence.

    Pool Solar Heater Benefits

    • •  Most affordable pool heater you can buy, and free to operate
    • •  Environmentally friendly - no emissions, and no fuel used
    • •  Simple DIY installation by any handy homeowner

The best feature of solar pool heaters is the free pool heat, after a low initial cost. In addition, solar pool heaters start great backyard conversations!

    How Solar Heaters Work

Inground or above ground solar pool heaters circulate pool water through black tubes that absorb the sun’s heat. A solar panel bypass allows you to control the flow rate through the solar panels and turn the system off during rainy days or after dark. Facing the solar panels in a southern direction, tipped towards the sun will increase solar heating; 6 hours of daily, unobstructed sun is best for optimum heating.

Will Solar Pool Heaters Work on My Pool?

Solar pool heaters will work well across the entire country, as long as you have a sunny spot near your pool pump that gets 4-6 hours of direct sun. Heat output depends on several factors, including the size of the solar system in relation to the pool, whether or not the pool is covered, and how many hours of daily sun the pool and solar panels receive. Good-sized solar heater systems can add between 15-20° F to your pool water, in all regions of the country, and smaller solar systems can easily add 5-10° F.

How Many Solar Panels are Needed?

The more solar panel surface area you have (Sq. Ft.), the more solar energy you can transfer to the pool water. Inground solar heaters are typically sized to 40-50% of the pool surface area, but shallower above ground solar heaters are best sized to match 20-30% of the pool surface area. Calculate the pool surface area in square feet, and then use the multiplier to buy enough solar panels to match the result. The more solar panels you add, the greater the heat gain.

    Solar Pool Heater Installation

Above ground solar pool heaters are built for simple installation. Simply cut the return hose and connect the hose ends to the bypass kit, to allow you to reduce the flow rate into the solar panels (slower is best for heat absorption). Using a 3-way diverter valve, or two 2-way valves will allow you to bypass the solar panels completely, during rainy days or after dark, or if the pool becomes too warm.

Inground pool solar heaters may require advance planning for placement of the 10' or 20' long solar panels, and some PVC plumbing to route the water into and out of the solar panels. Our 10' and 20' panels can be placed directly on the ground, but for best results, mount onto a roof or rack, facing south. The Bypass Valve Kit is used for control of flow into the solar panels, and to bypass the system completely during inclement weather, and at night.
