    Above-Ground Steps & Ladders

      Did the job nicely
Although I think that $40 + shipping was a bit much for 4 pieces of plastic. It was exactly what I need to convert the step portion of my old ladder into a usable step into the pool of the deck. I guess nothing is cheap anymore

      ladder conversion kit
The new conversion kit was much heavier and more durable than the other pieces that were on the latter. I'm very well pleased with them and the shipping time was very short

      Easily assembled very solid
so far this system is great it is solid and easily assembled the only downside was with some of the hardware very small and not very secure in holding the top step in place they have fallen out twice we are trying to find something more secure in holding the top step on otherwise it is a great secure ladder

      Ladder is great
We are happy with our purchase. Ladder is easy to climb and sturdy.

Overall I am pleased. It was challenging to assemble but if you read everything properly it does help. You need gravel to put in one side for ballast. Drill extra holes to fill with water faster. Be prepared to drill into your pool rail for added stability. Frankly, it is almost as sketchy as other models but once secured to the rail, it is pretty solid. I choose to NOT assemble the gate and it is just fine as I have a fence around my pool.

      Granny tested
I built them in one day. I needed a friend to help lift the one half into the pool. They were a little heavy to adjust the height once I got them in the pool. There was a learning curve about getting them good and level, so that the two staircases can be attached with good stability. The "non-entrapment step facing" and "the skids" on the bottom of both sides should be installed outside of the pool, and secured with a little tape until you have the steps installed well. Once the stairs are in ... read more you will not be able to adjust the liner, so be completely ready to place the steps where you want them. Mom/Granny went swimming today and did great. She was fully in control all the way into the pool and all the way out to the sidewalk.

      Stable excellent pool ladder
This is a really expensive ladder, but worth every penny, We paid an extra $200 for the Harrows pool company one and it still sucked. It was unstable, required sand to hold it in the pool. The Confer ladder was so much better. Easy to assemble (but it took some time), a little heavy to get into the pool, but using water to add weight was so much simplier. Big hit with my 63 year old wife!

      Great Item
We just brought this double stair system because we have an elderly person with limited mobility. These steps work amazingly well for him and also for our overweight friends and family. Extremely easy to assemble. Most of it snaps together. Assembled and in the pool in about two hours. Couldn't say enough about this product.

      Arrived with two broken steps
Looks like good construction but two of the steps arrived broken. The bolts pass through the rails and through two holes on the steps. The inner hole was completely busted on both steps. Appears to be a manufacturing problem. Contacted manufacturer and sent pictures. They needed invoice which I sent. Now waiting for a response. Will update with better review if replacements are sent and a more negative review if not.

      Good quality
Bought this specifically so I could cut off a few inches from the back of the "U" to accommodate a taller height from the bottom of my pool to the surface of the deck I built over the top of it - worked like a charm. A little difficult to put together because the holes on the steps didn't quite line up with the holes in the rails, but it was nothing a little persistence couldn't fix. Overall a big improvement in quality over the ladder that came with the pool when I bought it.

The ladder was exactly what was described, very good quality, fit perfectly, just what I needed, and arrived when I was told it would. All at a good price. Very happy with my new ladder!

      Sturdy easy to assemble
The ladder does not float like other ladders I had before this one. It sank once it was filled with water.

      Best Ladder Ever
I've bought two different ladders for my above ground pool and this one is the best... Easy to assemble and very sturdy. I'd highly recommend this ladder if you're looking to replace the standard ladder that comes with an above ground pool.

      Perfect for kids!
I bought this for an above ground pool at our weekend property. So far it's been great. It is more difficult for adults to climb up and down then the kids but overall were happy with the purchase. I love that the steps "lock" with the sliding cover to keep people and animals out.

Very solid. Great addition to our pool.
I'll start with my only negative. Have to do a little trimming of the rough edges of plastic left from the molding process. This makes everything fit a lot better. Positives: Great product. Very solid. Soooo much better than a ladder even the one we had with wide steps. Makes getting in and out so much better for everyone. From our 14 month old grandson to our 70 year old father. Even makes it easy in and out for our Springer Spaniel. He loves the water and this eases our concern over him ... read more putting holes in the liner getting out of the pool. Definitely worth the money!!

I open and close my pool with in the swim, I also use in the swim all summer! I purchase everything for our pool from this company and I have no complaints.

Great for dogs! And even people.
Sturdy, well made, easy to assemble, stay in place well, my labs use them with ease, i used (4) separate homemade 40# pvc and concrete weights to hold them down instead of sand, drilled a few extra holes in bottoms of pieces to let water and air in and out when placing and removing them from pool. I'm a 40 year old guy in pretty good shape but no Hercules, and I am able to get them both in and out of the pool myself (slowly and gradually to let water in when installing and out when removing), ... read more all while staying dry, though it would be an easier job with two people. I would not be able to do this if I used sand as a ballast as suggested in the instructions.

      Fairly good product
We've had our steps for about a month and yes they do support the weight as claimed, BUT, they are wobbly, feel incredibly unstable and I wish they had a "landing" at the top. For those of us with recent knee replacements the risers are very steep... Very steep. Also the steps on the inside of the pool are very narrow unlike those on the outside. I'd much rather someone build curvy, graduated steps... Almost ramp-like access in the outside and wider steps on the inside. Because the risers are so ... read more steep, I simply can't use them with my knees. Maybe someday I'll be able to, but not yet. So I get to sit and watch everyone else play.

      Stable and Looks Good !
We've had these steps for a few years now. They are stable and good looking. NO problem getting in or out and my husband has 2 bad knees and a bad back. Self latching locking gate is exactly what we needed.

      Good but....
While the ladder itself is of good quality, the actual assembly of it is time consuming and labor intensive. Do not rely on the directions to make sense as, well, they don't! It took two people more than two hours to put this together!! Again, if you have time, energy and determination, it is a great ladder. It is sturdy and secure, but oh my gosh, be prepared for a serious process to get it together.

worked out well; follow instruction to fill with pebbles for weight stability

Great ladder, but I need to replace the handles
We purchased this ladder about 3 years ago. A storm came in and took our old pool and we are now replacing it. Old pool was 48" high and new pool is 52" high. The handles were cut down to fit the deck and now we need more height on the new pool to match up to the deck. Is it possible to get the handles replaced?

More About Above Ground Pool Steps & Above Ground Pool Ladders

Above ground pool steps and ladders are important pool equipment for the safety of pool users and pets. In The Swim offers a variety of steps and ladders for every above ground pool owner’s budget, whether or not your pool has a full or partial pool deck

For above ground pools without a deck, a two-sided ladder like the Roll Guard A-frame safety ladder and the Evolution A-frame safety ladder are useful necessities. Take a 'step-up' in quality and size with two-sided pool step systems that feature an outside safety gate such as the Deluxe Entry System or the Combo Step Entry System that combines wide and sturdy stairs outside the pool, and a thick yet unobtrusive ladder inside the pool. Double sided pool A-frame ladders are weighted with sand or pebbles, to sit solidly on the pool floor and stay firmly in place.

For above ground pools with a deck, you can use the single pool ladder or the wider and safer pool steps, connected to your pool deck. For above ground pool ladders, look at the Heavy Duty In-Pool Ladder, or the 5-Step Stainless Steel pool ladders. Above ground pool steps are selected from 4 models, including the popular Staircase Steps and the elegant Curve Step System. Weighted pool steps connect to your pool deck and make a stable way for kids and adults to enter and exit the pool safely. Pool steps or stairs also make a great place to sit in the pool!

Vinyl Works and Confer above ground pool ladders and steps are made from roto-molded thermoplastics, designed to be easily assembled and quickly installed, with all parts and complete instructions included. The most cost-efficient models include the single pool ladder that attaches to your pool deck or a double sided pool ladder for above ground pools without a deck. The more expensive models include locking safety gates, wide and deep treads and platform, solid handrails, and weight ratings of up to 300 lbs. Using a ladder pad or step pad is recommended to protect your pool liner.
