Harness the TropiCal Heat Pump to Heat Your Pool

Made for above-ground pools and smaller in-ground pools, the TropiCal heat pump is an economical and environmentally-friendly way to heat your pool. Using titanium heat exchangers and TropiCal’s patented counter-flow water management system, this pump harnesses the power of its sealed ventilator motor. All models include a fan grill with a micro-processor that controls an automatic defrost for use down to temperatures in the lower 40’s, and a vinyl-coated evaporator coil. The T115 boasts the ThermoLink Titanium Heat Exchanger that uses a patented hydraulic design. The Thermolink’s design improves compatibility with variable and two-speed pumps by adding only 1 PSI at 30 GPM.

How does a heat pump work?
      - A heat pump simply moves heat from the air and transfers it to the pool/spa water. A heat pump uses a refrigeration cycle exactly like your refrigerator or air conditioner uses. A proven safe, economical and very trouble-free system.
How long will it take to heat my pool?
      - The initial start-up heating time will differ, depending on the size of the pool and the air temperature at the time that you are trying to heat your pool; other considerations affect the time also, but these are not as important. However, once your pool reaches the temperature you desire, the run time can be as little as only a few hours per day.

Is a pool blanket necessary if I use a heat pump to heat my pool?

      - No, you do not need to install a blanket on your pool if you use a heat pump. However, if you choose not to use a pool blanket, your pool may require a larger heat pump. Your heating bills will also be lower with a pool blanket.
Is the refrigerant used in heat pumps ecologically safe?
      - YES! As of January 1, 2010, The United Nations Environmental Protection Agency requires all manufacturers to use an alternative refrigerant to R22. All AquaCal units now utilize R410A refrigerant. R22 will be available for repairs until 2030.
