Residential Water
Testing
Tired of making special trips
to the pool store to get your water tested?
Let In The Swim
do the work for you! Just follow these simple steps:
- Use your test strips or 4-way test kit to determine the pH,
free chlorine or bromine, acid demand and alkalinity
in your pool.
**IMPORTANT NOTE FROM DR. POOL**
Be advised that there is a difference between
free chlorine or bromine and total chlorine or
bromine. Our test station is designed to read ONLY free chlorine
levels! The "free" chlorine in your water is the true chlorine
available to sanitize your water. "Total" chlorine is a
combination of free chlorine and the "spent" chlorine molecules,
or chloramines. Total chlorine readings have a tendency to give
you a false reading, depending on how often you shock or oxidize
your water.
Unfortunately, some test kits only read the
total chlorine levels! If you have TEST STRIPS, you are fine. If
you have a liquid drop test kit, check to make
sure that it tests for "free" chlorine. If not, you can
order a 4-Way Test Kit. Our 4-Way Test Kit will test for "free" and
total chlorine, pH and alkalinity.
