    Water Balancers

    1. 9 years ago
      Wow- what an improvement
Our well water is incredibly hard (more than 2000 ppm TDS). I tried several things and finally decided the failure to get a good readings was because the water was simply not absorbing the chemicals. I was a bit anxious but added the 2 gallons of stabilizer/conditioner and the pool has been sparkling ever since.

      Fast dissolve and disbursement
For those who do not use chlorine with stabilizer, there is no better solution for maintaining cynauric levels in your salt water pool.

      OK Product (but a pricey)
Often times, I will use liquid bleach as a sanitizer in my pool, the down side being the lack of Stabilizer in Chlorine Bleach. I've tried supplementing with Cyanuric Acid, but the results were minimal, and it took an extended period of time to dissolve. The two downsides of this product are as follows: 1. Price For what I use the product, over the long run it's cheaper to use chlorine with stabilizer infused. 2. Sludge Be prepared to spend some time extracting the product. I expected a liquid ... read more solution that would pour from the container. Instead, the product greatly resembled a 75% dry container of Elmer's Glue. After a while, I gave up, and took the top of the container off with a box cutter, and spooned out the contents into a mixing bucket. Overall, the product was more effective balancing chemicals, but for me to purchase the product again, the price will have to come down significantly.

      Quick reasonable pool chemical
Ordered Calcium hardness on Friday Afternoon and recieved on Saturday. About 2/3rds of the price of in store and I needed 75 pounds so good saving. I could not believe how fast I got this, will definitely look at In The Swim for future pool needs.

      Works Great
Works as described and in the swim sends it to my door, I don't have to go to pool store and lug the stuff home. In the Swim has a chart that explains how much to add to your pool,

      Spectacular Chemicals
I have been purchasing nearly all of my chemicals from In The Swim for about the past twelve swimming season. All of their chemicals arrive quickly, and all of them work well at a much lower price than the local pool stores.I have owned a pool for more than thirty years and wish I would have discovered In The Swim then. The everyday prices are phenomenal and when they have a special the deals are only better. From pool balancing to chlorine tablets, they keep me "In The Swim" all season. Now if ... read more they could only keep it sunny for my weekend parties, we would be all set !!!

Buy the 50 lb bag and save money
I bought (2) 50 lb bags due to cheaper cost and stored the PH+ in old chlorine pails with a handmade label on it. I have a 50,000 gal pool so it takes a lot to adjust the ph when needed. The bags are definitely cheaper and stores very well in empty, rinsed out chlorine pails. I buy chlorine in 50 lb pails due to the cheaper cost as they can be stored for up to 2 years with no problem. Then I use the emprty rinsed out pails to store PH+.

Can't do without it in Wisconsin
I can't open my pool without this. When you have a big pool you need lots of the ph up . There isn't enough baking soda in the world to balance it seems. And as with all pool chemicals, please read the instructions.

      How much does it contain?
Since buying this product my hair and muscles have grown significantly. I am not sure what purity of weapons grade plutonium is in this product, but it definately cleaned up my pool, my neighbors pool, and the surrounding lakes are now all algae free for 50 miles!

      Easy Pool Maintenance
We installed our pool about 6 weeks ago. After our initial water fill, we had to increase the pH. Since then I have used 2 phree and clears in a floater every week and have had to do nothing else!! We also use the 3" chlorine tabs, weekly non-chlorine shock, and weekly algaecide 50 for maintenance. Our pool water looks awesome and it take so little time to care for the pool.

Sparkly clear pool ... finally, again!
I normally don't write reviews (although I do read them), but this product was just like magic. I have been fighting a cloudy pool all summer and had given up when I came across this product. I decided to try it despite our pool not being clear to begin with. Within a couple of days I noticed that I could start to see the bottom again. Now a few weeks later its like the pool that we had when we first put up our pool Thank you pHree & Clear! Excellent Product!!

      Easy but ...
I'm into the second bucket and have just rationalized that this product was interacting with my weekly Super Shock and causing cloudy water. I quit adding the Super Shock two weeks ago, rely solely on the chlorine tablets in the floater to sanitize and now my water sparkles. My weekly pool maintenance is now down to 3 products (Chlorine Tablets, phree & clear tablets, and 4 oz of Algeacide 60). I have a 16 x 32 vinyl-lined pool with a 9 ft diving end (25,000 gal) and live in Central Florida so ... read more water balance can be a challenge. I am now "phree" to enjoy the water!

      Great sodium bicarbonate
I am a CPO. My pool had very low alkalinity that couldn't even be tested. I used this product and now my pool is at a steady 100ppm. Plus can't forget to mention great price and low to no shipping fees

      Great price great item!
Go ahead shop around you will be back. Great price on a great item works perfect for my hot tub and pool. Were using alot less ph+ for pool and ph- for hot tub. And compared to smaller bottles you save a bundle!

      Just what I needed!
I purchased the chlorine neutralizer from In the Swim because they offered the size I needed. The price was excellent and they shipped it quickly; we received it just 2-3 days after ordering. I will purchase this from In the Swim again.

Chlorine Neutralizer did lower chlorine levels
This stuff really works. Getting the right amount was a "guess" but did get it down - and fast.

      A Must Have!!!
This product is a must have for all pool owners. When you happen to raise the chlorine level too high, this product will save day. It works and it works fast. Excellent product.

      Easy to use
I was advised several years ago to place the dry acid in a stocking (I split 8 lbs 4 ways) and hang into the pool very early after opening. Takes about two weeks for the solid to dissolve but the results are great.
    2. 1 year ago
      Very slow dissolve
Have never used this product and didn't read all of the reviews. Don't know if the product dissolves faster in warmer water (late season), but it lay in the pool for several days before dispersing. Next year, may dissolve in a large bucket and then add to the pool.

      Does the job.
Does exactly what it was made to do, raise the CYA in the pool water. This is one of the only chemicals needed to be purchased from a pool store. Pros: Raises the CYA in pool water. Costs alot less than the liquid conditioner. Cons: Takes about 5 days of filtering pool to accurately test correct CYA level. If you add too much you will have to drain and add fresh water or use higher amounts of chlorine to achieve the same sanitary pool levels. Note: Stabilized chlorine tablets/pucks will also ... read more raise the waters CYA levels. Buy a good pool test kit and use it frequently.

In The Swim Knowledge Pool: Water Balancers

    In The Swim's Dr. Pool

Why Pool Water Balancers are Important

Pool water balancers help you manage water quality and avoid pool staining from improper water chemistry. In addition, pool chlorine levels are regulated by pool water balance levels, and incorrect ranges cause skin and eye irritation, and destroys chlorine's ability to kill bacteria and other harmful contaminants.

    •    - High pH and alkalinity levels also makes chlorine very sluggish and at a pH of 8.0 over 50% of your chlorine is wasted.
    •    - Low pH is also a problem, and at a pH of 7.0, chlorine is overly active and depletes more rapidly.
    •    - High pH and alkalinity levels can cause unsightly scale deposits, cloudy water and eye irritation.
    •    - Low pH and alkalinity levels can cause etching and corrosion to pool equipment, covers and pool surfaces.
    •    - Low alkalinity levels makes your pH level erratic and unstable, even after adjustment.
    •    - High alkalinity levels makes your pH level overly stable and difficult to adjust pH up or down.
    •    - Low calcium hardness creates aggressive water that seeks to satisfy a demand for hardness, in troublesome ways.
    •    - Low stabilizer levels allows the sun to burn-off chlorine as fast as you can add it, resulting in unsanitary pool water.

In order to maintain swimmer comfort and health and to protect the condition of pool surfaces and equipment, it is important to keep both pool ph chemicals on-hand. Other water balance levels are slower to change, but be sure to test and adjust alkalinity, hardness and stabilizer levels every spring, and each month during the season. With regular pool water testing, it's easy for any pool owner to make chemical adjustments and maintain balanced pool water.

    •    - pH Increaser is a base used to raise low pH levels when 7.2 or lower
    •    - pH Reducer is an acid used to lower pH levels when 7.8 or higher (also lowers Total Alkalinity)
    •    - Alkalinity Increaser is used to raise low alkalinity levels when below 80 ppm
    •    - Calcium Hardness Increaser is used to raise low hardness levels when below 200 ppm
    •    - Stabilizer or Conditioner (Cyanuric Acid) is used to protect chlorine from the sun, best in range of 20-50 ppm

As with all of our products at In The Swim, our water balance chemicals are of first-class quality and are available at economical, affordable prices. With the help of a good test kit and quality pool balancers, pool owners can easily maintain high water quality to protect their pool surfaces, reduce chlorine expense, and protect the health of swimmers. Water is balanced when pH, alkalinity, calcium hardness, chlorine and stabilizer levels are all within their recommended ranges:

    •    - pH: 7.2 to 7.8
    •    - Total Alkalinity: 80 ppm to 120 ppm
    •    - Calcium Hardness: 200 ppm to 400 ppm
    •    - Stabilizer (Cyanuric Acid): 20-50 ppm
    •    - Free Chlorine: 1.0-2.0 ppm
