Pool safety covers are constructed to be heavy duty with a greater abrasion resistance from concrete, stone, pool coping or brick. The safety covers can hold more weight than ordinary pool covers which will keep a child or animal from falling in the closed pool if one happens to accidentally go across the cover.
Safety covers also can withstand piles of heavy snow which helps more of the snow melt to evaporate instead of running into the pool. If there are a lot of standing water on your cover come spring, you might want to use a pool cover pump to remove as much water as possible to help keep the accumulated dirt with the water out of your pool. The less dirty water from over the winter that reaches your pool, the easier your spring opening will be. Most pool safety covers attach to brass safety cover anchors that are installed into the surrounding concrete or brick of the pool patio. This provides a solid hold with enough flexibility to prevent tearing under stress. A safety cover mate will help protect your safety cover, too, adding years to its serviceable life.
