I'm very pleased with the move from DE to the cartridge filter. The only complaint to-date, after 4-months, is I have to clean more frequently. About every 10 - 14 days. Yet cleaning is much simpler and about a 30 minute effort. The DE cleaning was always 1+ hours and much more difficult. I haven't seen any difference in filtering quality ... as it impacts my pool. If I would change one thing, it would be to purchase a larger filter surface area. My solution will be to get a spare cartridge

Haywood Cartridge Pool Filter
This product is great. Installation was easy. I measured water flow on the return and it is three times what I was getting with a sand filter.

Worth the price
The Hayward Star Clear Pool Filter works as advertised.
I got this about 2 years ago and it's been working great on my pool. I have noticed that it does clear up my pool a little faster in I first open it for the year. It's easy to use as well and I have had no issues with it.

Easy to install!
We always love all of our Hayward products which includes this sand filter! Our water is super clear and we don't have to run this 24/7 to keep it that way!

Hayward sand filter
After 25 years I finally replaced the original filter on my in ground pool. This was pretty much a plug and play replacement. The only thing bad I can say about it, is the drain plug placement at the back of the unit is not going to be easy to access for winterization.
I bought a Hayward pump and sand filter three seasons ago. My round pool originally had a paper filter. It was hard to clean, very hard to clean. If you are still using the paper filter type, you are wasting time and effort.
To clean a sand filter, you simply turn a handle and turn on the pump. It backwashes easily. You don't have to take the top off the system (which got harder each year), cut your hands, wash the filter 15 minutes, or pay $60 for a new filter. Honestly, I wouldn't have a pool

I purchased the pump and filter combination. After several months of use I am happy with the purchase. System does an excellent job filtering and cleaning the 26,000 gallons of water in my in-ground pool. Quiet running and easy to setup. Pump was wired easily and love the large valve on top for back flushing and even has a rinse setting so you can cleanse the filter sand before starting to filter again thus avoiding sending dirty water back into your pool.

i ONLY sell hayward
I own a pool service company and i ONLY sell hayward products. They are so easy to work with, and the price is much better then some others who claim to be "high end pumps and filters" Im a huge fan of hayward and always will be unless they change who they are as a company.
i have an aboveground pool at home 18ft round and i use a S166T sandfilter ( zeosand inside) paired up with a 1hp hayward matrix pump and the little guy does a great job!
Inground pool filters are absolutely essential pool equipment as they screen debris and contaminant particles out of the water to keep it clean and crystal clear. This not only makes pools more inviting, it also helps to create and maintain a healthy swimming environment by removing potentially harmful contaminants. In the Swim offers a full line of inground pool filters that will provide a high standard of reliable performance so pool owners can feel confident that their inground filter will keep their pool water clear and healthy.
Our line of inground pool filters includes sand filters, cartridge filters and diatomaceous earth (DE) filters. While DE inground pool filters provide the highest level of filtration currently available, sand and cartridge inground swimming pool filters are also remarkably effective at removing debris and contaminant particles from pool water. Specifically, sand pool filters are capable of screening out debris particles as small as 20 microns while cartridge filters can screen out particles as small as10 microns and DE filters can trap particles as small as 2 to 5 microns.
If you have any questions regarding any of the inground pool filters from In the Swim or any of our pool supplies please contact our friendly team of experts via phone or email, and they will be happy to help. Most of our inground pool filters arrive with fast processing and shipping.
