    Closing Kits

No More Algae-EVER with this product
This product is AMAZING. I have used this product for 2 years now. I use it weekly during the swim season and use it to close our pool in the fall. I pour an entire bottle in when we close the pool and I have yet to have any algea when we open in the spring. My dogs quite often swim in our nasty pond and then swim in the pool. Not once have they transferred the algea to the pool. EXCELLENT PRODUCT.

      Eliminated Algae quickly
We recently had a new liner installed and the water was saved by pumping into large bladders. Unfortunately, there was algae in the bladders which made its way into the pool during refilling. Before using, we couldn't see a foot down into the pool. 3 days after the initial dose, water was crystal clear and were adding the maintenance dose weekly with no signs of reoccurrence.

      Effective algae control
A whole bottle when opening the pool, then about a third to half a bottle weekly. Save one whole bottle for winter closure.

      I'm sold!
Short version: this stuff works! Longer version: For the past several years I've been opening my 20,000 gallon (w/ mesh safety cover) pool to find it so green and nasty looking (due to the mesh safety cover), that at times I thought draining it might be a better option. That said, I figured I would give this [Pool Magic Plus Phosfree Pool Cleaner] a try, especially since it was still relatively warm when I closed the pool. I did the normal closing procedure, but this time added Pool Magic ... read more too. Then in March, I added a second bottle (as the product recommends). Well, I just pulled the pool cover off and... WOW! This stuff REALLY works! I was expecting to see the usual algae green water that's so dark and 'thick' you can't see the bottom of the pool (or the steps for that matter). However, this year, not only is the water not green but, for the first time EVER, I can actually see the bottom of the pool (even in the deep end)!

      Must Have For Closing Pool
I used this product when I closed my pool and when I uncovered it in the Spring - the water was still crystal clear. You couldn't tell it had be covered all winter. Wonderful product!

      Great product
I used this product as part of the deluxe winter closing kit. I will buy an extra bottle next year to keep on hand to prevent any algae, as I always seem to have a problem in the late summer.

      Pool Closing Plugs
The plugs are fine, but more expensive than at my local pool store.
    2. 4 years ago
      Perfect fit
A simple thing like plugs often give us fits - the wing nut turns the screw and they don't tighen or the rubber cracks - not the case with these, installed them out of the package - perfect fit and operation

      They Work Great!
I had bought some of these plugs when we first set up our 18' above ground pool and they worked great. Now, 8 years later they finally got weather cracked and needed replacement. You can't beat the price considering they kept water from leaking out during the winter for many years. The only change is that the wing nut is now plastic verse metal from 8 years ago. The new plastic wing nut worked great and should last as long as you keep it out of the sun during the summer.

      Winterizing Wonders
Third year now that I have used the In The Swim winterizing package for my in-ground pool. Works like a charm and saves the cost of hiring someone to do it for me. This spring, the water needed less attention than prior seasons due to addition of floating clorinator included in the package. Thanks for making opening easier but my former pool guy misses the business. Maybe he'll pay you not to sell your products ??

If you care about your pool - buy this!
As my pool has aged, opening it has been more difficult year after year. I live in the Midwest so we get very cold winters and lots of sun in the Spring. More algae appeared year after year and I just accepted it. Would take me 1-2 weeks to get the pool clear. Found this last year and used the kit. Absolutely amazing! When I closed it last year, I followed the instructions in the kit (very easy). I then added another bottle of winter algaecide in early March. When I opened the pool in April, the ... read more water was very clear. I had the pool ready to swim in 2 days.

      Best Winterizing Kit
The winterizing kit is the best. The pool water is always perfectly clear when we open the pool in the Spring!!!

      The Best
Used this closing kit for years and always opened the pool to clean clear water. That is until last year when I procrastinated and didn't order. I stopped at the local pool store and bought their closing kit. Last spring when I pulled back the cover I was greated with cloudy dirty water that took days of filtering and multiple shocks...This year it was back to the In the Swim closing kit...Time saved is money earned

      Close up kit
I have used this close up kits for the last 4 years. Very easy to use and pool poens in the Spring with clear water. What a time saver! I feel this is a great product.

      Excellent product!
I used this same winterizing kit last fall. This spring the pool water was as clean as the day I closed the pool. This is the only kit I will use on my pool. A++

      Good Products, Good Price
I have been using this kit for the past 7 years to close my in ground pool and it works quite well. My pool opening is easier thanks to the winter chemicals included with this kit.

      Amazed
After 14 years of opening a pool to a swamp, the only change was adding this in the closing of the pool 2010. Opening May of 2011 was amazing clear. Even after having 2 90 degree days(which would normally cook up some algea) before we took off the mesh cover, it was the cleariest it has ever been.

      Best yet
I have had my pool for 18 yrs. No matter what I used in the pool for winter, I would open it in spring to cloudy, green water. Last fall was the first I tried this. I was somewhat reluctant on how a little ball will allow the pool to be so clear when I open it. But it was clear as can be.I can see every little speck of debris that was left in there when I closed it, not to mention the liner pattern so easily seen. I have suggested to all my pool friends to try this

      Best Open in 12 years!
After a warm Winter and warmer Spring, expected to find a very murky pool. We judge opens by how many days after opening day it takes to make out the shape of the white drain cover at 8 foot end. Then how long to see the StSteel screws in the drain cover. WOW saw the screws as soon as the cover came off! Best Open ever -looked the same as when I closed it up.... 6 months ago. Found a dead shrew at bottom of stairs, something like this in a normally murky pool- would have taken "days" to digest ... read more with chemicals- let alone see it and scoop out. So I know I saved time and money and will buy a winter ball for the coming closing in the fall from now on!

      Great surprise
We were skeptical about this kit, but opening our pool was so much easier in the spring. In fact, we bought chemicals in preparation of opening the pool after using the winter kit and did not need to use them. Saved time and money!!

      Winterizing kit
I purchased this kit last year to winterize my pool. It just made it so much easier to winterize my pool because I don’t have to guess what and how much chemicals to use. When I opened my pool this spring it was beautiful. Thank you in the swim for your wonderful products.

      Good product with proper use
We have used the deluxe winter kit for our 15x30 foot above ground pool for many years now. What we have learned is to drop in the winter pill in February to extend the protection of the kit into the spring months when it is still to cold at night to be able to uncover and swim, but warm during the days. We also add algicide to the water once the days warm up to keep mosquito larvae at bay until the pump is up and running.

In The Swim Knowledge Pool: Closing Kits

    In The Swim's Dr. Pool

Close Your Pool With The Right Winter Pool Chemicals

During the long off season in the snowbelt – for those that winterize their swimming pool – the water is not being circulated, filtered or sanitized - making your pool the perfect breeding ground for algae. Our winter pool closing kits have been specifically designed and formulated to provide you with the exact combination of powerful winterizing chemicals to help ensure a swift opening next spring, without additional chemicals needed to restore water clarity. All of our In The Swim Pool Winter Kits Include:

    Chlorine-Free Shock

Our Chlorine-Free Shock is a powerful oxidizing agent, but is non-chlorine, and will never harm your pool surfaces or your pool cover. Chlorine-Free winter shock also dissolves faster than chlorine, and maintains greater efficacy at a wider range of pH level. All of our Winter Pool Kits contain our premium non-chlorine shock oxidizer to burn off any remaining impurities, while not reducing the effectiveness of other chemicals.

    Time-Release Winter Floater

Our exclusive time-release Winter Floater discharges a non-chlorine oxidizing agent into your pool water for months after it's been covered. Not only does this winter chemical floater sanitize your pool water, but also works to remove carbon dioxide from the water - eliminating one of algae's primary food sources. Unlike chlorine tablet pool floaters, our non-chlorine Winter Floater will never stain your plaster or vinyl.

    Winter Stain Away

Specifically formulated for closing your pool, Winter Stain Away helps eliminate stain-causing metals and minerals that can leave your pool with costly liner stains or hard-to-clean waterline build-up. Winter Stain Away sequesters metals – keeping them tied up in solution, to prevent them from precipitating out during winter. Works wonders on mesh safety covered pools, and keeps working all year round to help prevent metal and mineral stains.

    Winterizer

The final step to preventing algae next spring is to pour in our special winter pool algaecide. Dr. Pool's own proprietary polymer blend combines in perfect harmony with the other items in your pool winterizing kit. When used in conjunction with our other pool closing chemicals our Winterizer Algaecide is the perfect "knock-out" punch against algae. Lasts all winter long, even into a warm spring.

    Winter Sorb

Made exclusively for our Winterizing Kits, the Winter Sorb™ can absorb up to 40 times its weight in residual suntan lotions and body oils to prevent grease, grime and waterline scum. Oils are not good for keeping a clear pool that is winterized. They provide a low grade food source for algae, and can clog up the waterways, easily combining with free chlorine to create chloramines, which get in the way of free chlorine trying to do its job.

Buy the Winter Kit that best fits your pool size. Don't order a kit that's too small, it's better to have some extra chemical in the pool to help guard against cover tears, heavy debris or warm springtime temperatures. And if you close early, or open late in the season, to buy the next larger size winter kit.

To help select the best Winter Closing Kit, use these formulas to closely calculate the number of gallons in your pool.
     - Round Pools: Diameter x Diameter x Average Depth x 5.9 = Total Gallons
     - Oval Pools: Long Diameter x Short Diameter x Average Depth x 5.9 = Total Gallons
     - Rectangular Pools: Length x Width x Average Depth x 7.5 = Total Gallons
