How to buy an above ground pool cover.
Our above ground pool covers have similar features and benefits, and we provide a wide range of price options. The better pool covers will have a tighter weave, or scrim, and are “dipped” more times to create stronger layers. The tighter the scrim and the more layers a cover has, the greater it’s resistance to tears from tree branches or animals. All of our aboveground pool covers offer superior UV resistance. Buy the pool cover that meets your durability requirements, while also meeting your pool budget.
How to install an above ground pool cover.
First, confirm the measurements listed on the outside of the box match your pool size. Our Polar Plus aboveground pool covers have a 4 ft. overlap, so if you have a 21 ft. pool, the total diameter of your pool cover will be 25 feet. We commonly list our solid pool covers with two measurements, pool size and cover size. It’s easy to get confused, please order by your pool size, not by the size of the pool cover. Use an air pillow under the cover to help keep rain water puddle in a smaller area, but mostly a pool air pillow acts as an ice equalizer, to prevent a solid sheet of ice from forming, which could damage your above ground pool walls. After cleaning the pool thoroughly and adding your winter pool chemicals, spread the pool cover over the pool so that it overlaps the top rail evenly on all sides. Run the braided, coated steel cable through the aluminum grommets on the cover edge and connect the winch between the two ends of the cable. Tighten the winch to cinch your winter pool cover around the pool. If you are in areas of high winds, you can add cover clips or wall bags to help secure the cover to the pool.
How to maintain an aboveground pool cover.
Use a small cover pump or a gravity drain device to remove rain water from the surface of your above ground pool cover. If too much water gets on the cover, it can cause strain to the fabric and cause dirt to accumulate. Additionally, rain water on your pool cover attracts worms, and worms attract birds. Birds are sometimes not careful with their sharp claws and beaks, and can damage your pool cover by making holes. Similarly, squirrels after nuts or berries on the pool cover can also create pinholes with their claws as they walk across an above ground pool cover.
How to store your above ground pool cover.
During pool opening, carefully remove the cable and winch from the pool cover and remove the cover to an area large enough to spread it out. Clean the cover with a garden hose and a brush mounted on a pole. If needed, you can use a mild detergent to help remove dirt or stains from your pool cover. Your pool brush will work well, or a push broom can be used – to help remove dirt deposits. Allow the cover to dry before folding. You can also clean the cover while it’s still on the pool, if you haven’t room to spread it out anywhere that is clean and flat and large enough. As you fold the cover, use a fan-folding pattern, or an accordion style method, to make it easier to put the pool cover on the aboveground pool next fall.

First things first. I live approximately 40 miles from the distribution center in Chicago. The "one day" shipping took four days! The cover itself is the flimsy tarp material you'd buy at a sporting goods store. But that's about what I expected for under $100. They advertise a 24' cover as being 28' so that there is an overhang around the edge of your pool to keep debris from blowing in. The problem with this is that if you close your pool correctly, by draining water below the skimmer and installing a balloon, the cover sags significantly into the pool, so there really is no overhang as implied in the ads. My biggest problem was with the cable they provided. It's 5 feet too short! There's really no excuse for that. It's simple math. 2 x Pi x R. So a 24' round pool has a circumference of a little over 75'. You have to send more than 70' of cable! They should be providing a bare minimum of five feet of slack. Now I have to wait several more days for the proper length cable to be sent.

This cover is junk! I got the W7155 21x41 cover. We only had it on our pool less than a month and it started seperating at the seam in a couple of places. Do not waste your money.

I bought this cover last year--and it didn't last one month when water started seeping through. For the first time ever, I posted a review. The very next day there was a message on my answering machine to call InTheSwim. When I returned the call, they told me a brand new cover--free of charge-was in the mail. They also told me that I didn't have to send back the whole cover (virtually impossible) but just a section. Good to know. I am putting the cover on today and hoping it will last. I just bought a pool liner from ITS--love the pattern. I am hoping for a good winter and many more years from the liner. Thank you for making good on your products.

"
i bought this last year for the extra overhang and durability. thought it was real nice last year then went to use it this year and water is seeping up from the underneath as it is full of holes. we already dumped our chemicals in and disconnected the pump and as we live in the country we don't want to take the cover off and send it back and have a wait process with the pool uncovered for a replacement. also, my warranty says to send it back to the manufacturer so i called them and they were very rude. i had sent a solar cover back before and only had to mail a section but they want the whole cover shipped back to them which my pool would end up filthy in the process and i would probably have to hook my pump up again and re-treat. i may as well bought the cheapest they make for this quality.
