Cheap pool covers don't have to be low quality! Not every customer wants or needs an above ground pool cover with a 20 year warranty. The difference between a cheap pool cover and an expensive pool cover is how well it meets our customer's needs. We like to say that we have a pool cover for every pool budget.
Our budget-friendly line of discount pool covers are constructed from heavy-duty polyethylene, the same material as our top of the line winter covers. They have a larger scrim and are dipped fewer times, resulting in a light weight, yet durable material.
Discount pool covers for above ground pools will protect swimming pools from harsh winter weather while keeping leaves and other winter debris out of the pool water. A black underside helps to prevent algae growth for even cleaner water when the pool is uncovered in the spring.
Value-priced and available for pools of many different sizes, our line of cheap above ground winter pool covers provides an excellent choice for pool owners who are moving soon or may be replacing their pool, or just don't believe that our best covers are worth the extra price.
Are these Cheap Pool Covers? Cheaply priced, but not cheaply made! And besides, cheap pool covers are very popular! In fact, our cheapest 24 ft round pool cover is our most popular, largest selling winter cover (item W4315). You won't find a cheaper 24' round pool cover, with the same construction design as our top of the line pool covers, at a fraction of the price. The 28 ft. round economy cover is our second most popular pool cover, and also our lowest priced 28' round pool cover. These cheap pool covers definitely fill a need for a large number of our customers, who must love them, because they have excellent reviews, and positive feedback.
How to buy an above ground pool cover. In The Swim offers a winter pool cover for every wallet. Our above ground pool covers have similar features and benefits, and a wide range of price options. The better performing pool covers will have a tighter weave, or scrim, and are "dipped" more times to create stronger layers of polyethylene. The tighter the scrim and the more layers a cover has, the greater the resistance to damage from tree branches or animals. All of our aboveground pool covers offer superior UV resistance. A lot to choose from, we know! Select the pool cover that meets your durability requirements, while also meeting your pool budget.
How to order an above-ground pool cover. Our economy aboveground pool covers have a 3 ft overlap, so if you have a 24 ft. round pool, the total diameter of your pool cover will be 27 feet – Our 28' pool cover will have a total diameter of 31 ft.
We commonly list our solid pool covers with two measurements, pool size and cover size. It's easy to get confused, please order by your pool size (i.e. 24 ft. round), not by the size of the pool cover.
If you aren't 100% certain of your pool size, please measure it, inside wall to inside wall, in both directions.
How to install your above-ground pool cover.
First, confirm the measurements listed on the box actually match your pool size. Using a winter air pillow under the cover helps rain water puddle in a smaller area, but more importantly, serves as an ice equalizer, to prevent a solid sheet of ice from forming, which could damage your above ground pool walls. After cleaning the pool thoroughly and adding your winter pool chemicals, spread the pool cover over the aboveground pool so that it overlaps the top rail evenly on all sides. Run the coated steel cable through the aluminum grommets on the cover's edge and connect the winch to the two ends of the cable. Tighten the winch to cinch your winter pool cover around the pool edge. If you are in areas of high winds, you can add cover clips, cover seal or wall bags to keep your cover down in strong winds.
How to take care of an above ground pool cover. Use a small pool cover pump or a gravity drain device to remove rain water and snow melt from the surface of your above ground pool cover. If too much water gets on the cover, it can cause strain to the fabric and cause dirt to accumulate.
Standing water on your pool cover attracts worms, and worms attract birds. Birds are not too careful with their sharp claws and beaks, and can damage your pool cover with small holes. Similarly, squirrels after nuts or berries on the pool cover can also create pinholes with their claws as they walk across an above ground pool cover.
After or while pumping water, use a leaf rake skim net or a pool brush to remove the leaves and debris on the pool cover. If you have a lot of autumnal debris, consider a leaf net to catch falling debris, and allow easy removal.
How to store your aboveground pool cover. During pool opening, carefully remove the cable and winch from the pool cover and remove the cover to an area large enough to spread it out. Clean the cover with a garden hose and a brush mounted on a pole. Your pool brush will work well, or a push broom can be used – to help remove dirt deposits. If needed, you can use a mild detergent to help remove dirt or stains from your pool cover.
Allow the cover to dry before folding to prevent the formation of mildew. You can also clean the cover while it's still on the pool, if you haven't room to spread it out anywhere that is clean and flat and large enough. As you fold the cover, use a fan-fold pattern, or an accordion-style method, to make it easier to cover your above ground pool next fall.
Store the cover in a clean, dry area – away from nesting critters like field mice.
