Troubleshooting
If the system does not appear to be heating the pool check the following:
– Check to be sure the filter and leaf trap clean.
– Be sure the times are set from about 9a.m to 5p.m or for at least 8 hours of operation during solar hours.
– Have you been refilling the pool with a lot of cold water lately?
– Has the weather been marginal?
– If nighttime temperatures are very low use a pool blanket to retain the heat provided by the solar system during the day.
– Are the panels operating cool to touch on a sunny day? If not, you are not getting water to the panels-check your valve position.
If there are no initial bubbles when solar turns on:
– Ensure that the pump is running.
– Check the isolation valves to make sure they are open.
– Make sure the control valve is in the correct position.
If tiny champagne bubbles continue:
– Past the initial purging of the panels (3 to 5 minutes), this may be an indication that the water circulation through the panels has been reduced to the point where the vacuum relief valve is admitting air either continuously or intermittently. Check the pump, filter, and leaf trap for cleanliness and proper operation. If the bubbles continue with the solar turned off, check the piping leading to the pump for a suction side leak.
– Some small bubbles may always be discharged in the pool due to the particular operation characteristic of the individual system. They do not affect the operation of the system nor impair the proper function of any other pool equipment.
Occasionally check the Automatic Timer:
– Power failures, adjustments for the Daylights Saving Time, etc. will put it behind. It will be necessary to adjust the timer according to the season so that the solar will operate during the most beneficial of the day.

Frequently Asked Questions:
How many panels do I need?
– It is recommended that the square footage of the panels be at least equal to 50% of the pool’s surface area.
Is additional hardware required to install?
– No, the hardware is included.
How much does this system weigh?
– Empty, it weighs 25 lbs. Filled with water, it weighs 80 lbs.
My panels are leaking; do they need to be replaced?
– Not neccessarily. In The Swim offers a panel repair kit. The panel repair kit has everything you will need, including the neccessary tool.
Where can I put it?
– Place it anywhere that the panel will be in full sun for most of the day. Facing south is the best, but west is the next best choice. Lay it on the grass, gravel or the like, or mount on a platform, rack or deck. Mounting at a 20º - 45º angle with the ground will help maximize efficiency.
Should I use a pool cover with a solar system?
– Yes. A pool cover prevents evaporation loss, particularly at night. As with any heater, a cover will retain heat that had been collected during the day.
