Good Product but read instructions carefully!
I live in southern Florida. I purchased this product in order to rid the persistant algea growth in my pool. I tried algeacides, clarifiers, etc. to no medium/long term results.
Upon doing some research I decided to test PhosFree. With the product came a simple test kit. I was surprised that my phosphorus level was well above 1000 parts per billion. The test kit only went up 1000 ppb. For all I know my phosphorus could have been well above the 2000 to 3000 ppb level. After going through a whole 3 litres of Phosfree my phosphorus level appears to be below 1000 ppb. The problem was that, it appears for my size pool, about 12000 gallons that was all that was obtainable using the regular PhosFree. My goal is to get the phosphorus level down to below 100 ppb. If I had read the label a bit better I would have seen that for my size pool the "most" the product would lower the phosphorus level would be 900 ppb. Since I seemed to have the level much higher than that using the regular PhosFree was a "shot in the dark". It did work, but not to the level I needed it to. I then purchased a 3 litre bottle of Commercial Phosfree. It supposed to be 3 times stronger than the regular and should reduce the phosphorus level in my pool 2500 to 3000 ppb. The reason that I purchased the commercial is that a lot less is needed to be used and it will last longer.
Another issue is that the drinking water in my city is about 1000 ppb to begin with. This is great for algea to bloom, but what do the pool stores try to sell you.....algeacide and more chlorine and clarifier. Not one of them told me about the phosporus level in the drinking water. TISSSK, TISSSK and that I should first get the phosphorus down to levels below 100 ppb.
First check you phosporus level. Next see what strength Phosfree should be used, make sure your filter is clean to begin with and finally good luck and happy swimming.

Love this Stuff!
This product is worth the money you spend on it as you can keep a cleaner pool and spend less money on Super shock, and algae killers. Both this year and last I have had no algae problems while using this product.

Awesome, Just Awesome
We had a green algae problem from middle of last year onward. I would get algae along the bottom of our walls even though my Free Chlorine, PH, and Alkalinity were all perfect. I would by some Green to Clean, which would get rid of it for a bit, but then it would come right back days later. Eventually, I just closed the pool and blamed it on something wrong with our DE filter.
This year, our filter broke so we got a new one (DE again). Same freakin' problem with Algae. Spent another $100 on Green to Clean and Chrlorine, and the algae was still coming back along the bottom edges first - and then up the walls and along the floor.
After reading a ton of reviews everywhere, I bought 2 bottles of this product. The pool was a pretty bad color of green about now, but we tested and poured the right amount noted this in anyway. We tested the next day, and emptied/refilled the DE in our filter (no bumping, as that would release a lot of algae back into the pool). We kept doing this ~ 3 or 4 times over the course of a week (test, pour, cycle DE) and we are back on track!
It did cost me ~1 bag of DE, some chlorine, and some time scrubbing the pool to loosen up the algae, but it worked! The phosphate level is below 100 now, and the pool is crystal blue. I turned our pump down so it is only on 8hrs per day (energy savings), as well as not having to dump 2 lbs of chrloine in every few days just to stay ahead.
We only used up 1 bottle getting our 27' round pool in shape, but we will definitely be checking and using the 2nd bottle thru the summer, closing, and next year. Must have this stuff on hand at all times!
NOTES:
- If you have a DE filter, expect to cycle the DE at least every day until the pool gets clean.
- Don't forget to stir. This is a milky white product, and we thought it was clear for the longest time because the white stuff was on the bottom.
Thanks for all the reviews - a huge help!

Problem Solver
My pool environment is challenging: sun, rain, heat, lots of organics. My well-known algaecide was working, but not at the recommended maintenance dose. With Phos Free, no more problem. No more expensive high dose of algaecide for "visible algae". One more product, but less expensive, more effective overall maintenance. If you have any questions or concerns, simply call the 1-800 number on the container.
